Silicon Valley Regional POVs

SVR was so much fun this year, from the LGBTQ+ of FIRST craft and chat to the team's performance on the field. My favorite part was the fact that Janksters made up a majority of the volunteers, so every time we set up the robot on the field, we could say hi. We faced some challenges with lining up to the reef during matches, but as drive team, we worked to figure out when we should try to use vision to align and when it was better to manually align so we could make as many shots as possible. A huge highlight for me was winning the Team Spirit Award, I could feel how much team pride we had as we ran down to accept the award; it was powerful. Overall, I think we learned a lot, and we will be able to apply everything we have learned to CCR this next weekend.

My favorite part of SVR was working with our LGBTQ+ of First event, a Craft and Chat. We set up origami, friendship bracelets and snacks, and put up flyers to invite people to come join us during lunch to have a fun time. Overall, we had about eleven people from other teams, and about fifteen Janksters show up to the craft and chat, which was fantastic. I'd never planned an event like this before, and I learned a lot about budgeting and marketing. I look forward to working more with the community of LGBTQ+ of First and connecting with other teams through the initiative.

SVR was such a valuable learning opportunity for me, and an official competition where I got to bond more with my rookies. One challenge I faced was managing to take photos for social media in such a fast-paced environment, but being able to do media for the team and be so close to the field made it an incredibly fun and thrilling experience. Additionally, I was able to connect with many teams while passing out giveaways, and I’m excited to continue building those relationships at future events. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience!

My favorite part from SVR was just being there to experience it. It was my first time attending an event like this, and the thrill of it all was truly magical. As a newcomer, I wasn’t sure what to do during breaks or which teams were competing, but I quickly picked up much knowledge throughout the day. I also picked up on different team strategies, the significance of communication, and, most importantly, to have fun. Now, I can’t wait for more events like this, and I plan on attending every single one!
