2020 Week Six Article

As Week 6 of Build Season nears its end, the Janksters have begun to bring CAD, various game components, and electronics together. All of the committees and subcommittees have been working hard to complete the numerous tasks that need to be finished before our first competition.

The mill has been working overtime this week! The Mechanical committee has been actively working to build the hardware of our robot. The storage group is progressing in their work by finishing the frame of their mechanism and beginning mounting onto the chassis. Furthermore, the turret group has completed their mechanism, and is currently working on building a new mechanical stop and mounting. Meanwhile, the intake group is in the process of milling and assembling pieces, while the chassis group has been acting as support for the various mechanical subgroups in order to maximize team productivity. Finally, many projects is currently working on a set of bumper mounts.

After accomplishing the feat of building an electronics board in one day last week, the Electronics committee has mounted both of their base plates and is currently working on mounting the vertical electronics board. They are currently working on wiring the turret and storage mechanism.

This week the Programming committee was all about code! They have made incredible progress in getting the flywheel and turret to work as well as finalizing their vision code. Currently, they are troubleshooting the climbing code and are in the process of building a working auto code and the control panel code.

Last, but not least, the Business committee has been regularly posting on all of the team’s social media and website. They are also continuing to update documentation such as the team’s Outreach Binder, Business Plan, and Team Curriculum. Additionally, Business has assembled some gifts and cards to show their appreciation and gratitude for their mentors. Along with tackling the numerous tasks assigned, they also finished manufacturing buttons and will continue to produce the Perler bows and our signature team bows.

All in all, the Janksters have been efficiently manufacturing parts of the robot, programming and testing new codes, and continuing mass production. The Janksters are also looking forward to integrating all of their work into a complete, fully functioning robot soon!
